Research
For our research, we had to find out more about the pop genre. This is a very popular genre, so there is a lot of research about it and the the artists that are part of this genre, including Beyoncé, Lil Nas X, Taylor Swift, and the Weeknd. We had an easy time choosing the song, carry on.
Brainstorming and Challenges
It took us a little bit of time to actually figure out what the music video was going to be about though. However, we took inspiration from other music videos and decided to do a series of both clips from the present and also flashbacks. It was also kind of hard to come up with a overall look for the band. We wanted to make it relatable for younger viewers, so we decided to come up with a sort of outer space theme for the band. We were also struggling to come up with a good name for a band, but we finally thought of the name "Senior Trip." We thought that this was fitting not only because of the young target audience, but also because of the fact that trip could also mean like a "trip around the sun." This allowed us to easily come up with a logo for the band, which is a rocket going around the moon. Another challenge was trying to come up with a creative way to try and promote the music. We wanted to do something creative, and something that included of selling something that was related with our band. After some thinking, we decided to do sell sparklers, and give an early free download of the song with it. We chose sparklers because of how they are similar to things in outer space, because they are both in the sky. Not only did we think of this idea, but we also thought of an idea that includes of guerilla marketing. We will make a big abstract rocket ship in a park in New York, that will have the Spotify code for the song.
The next step is to actually make the music video and find out ways that it can be very connecting with its young audience.
